My name is Cathy. I live with my handy, handsome husband Charlie on a hobby farm in Ontario, Canada. Our children are grown, so we are empty nesters.
I grew up on an organic farm. That was a rare thing back in the day! From an early age, I have loved to study cookbooks. I took twelve 4-H homemaking clubs and learned cooking techniques in home economics classes in high school. Since then, I’ve become an experienced home cook.
Although I’ve always been health conscious, it was early in 2011 that I learned from an Elimination Diet that I needed to stop eating gluten. My research into the gluten-free lifestyle has led me to become more knowledgeable about healthful eating in general. I now make almost everything we eat from scratch.
The recipes that I share on this website are the ones I am making for my family on a daily basis. Most of them are my own creations. Some of them are favourite family recipes converted into more nutritious, gluten-free versions. Others are good, gluten-free recipes that I have found elsewhere and see no need to improve upon. When this is the case, I will do my best to acknowledge the source and give credit. Friends and family often ask me for recipes for the food that I serve them, so I thought you would appreciate them here as well.
We have recently purchased a vacation/retirement property that we are quite excited about! We call it our Hideaway, and we invite you to follow along with us as we develop it.
RV vacations have become a way of life for us, so I will be sharing our travels with you.
