Last weekend, we went to the Hideaway for the first time this winter. It was on this same weekend last year that we first discovered our Hideaway! We had been routinely checking out yet another real estate ad. However, this time we were pleasantly surprised! This lot was ideal, and in a few short weeks it was ours!
We spent the weekend in the area for Charlie’s mother’s birthday. In Dutch culture, birthdays are a time of big celebration with visits from lots of family! Her birthday was on Sunday. On Saturday, we were anxious to get out to check up on our Hideaway.
McGinty’s is a good place to go for a salad, sandwich, soup, or a yummy dessert treat along with your choice from an assortment of coffees and teas. They usually have a couple of gluten-free choices in the bakery section. Gluten-free carrot cake is a popular one. They also have gluten-free flatbreads and wraps.
There was snow at the Hideaway, but it was not nearly as deep as it had been last year.
I stepped out in the snow where I thought the house could go. Charlie thought my measurements were off! Well my method was not very accurate. I guess we’ll have to stake it out with a measuring tape again in the spring.
Then, it was back to town for dinner with family and a lovely birthday party the next day.
